About Us

The Beginning

Both horses had previously lived on a farm. Their owner had cared for them within his means, but decided to hand Whitney and Picasso into our care in order to give them a better life. At that time, both horses were in poor nutritional health. Their very slender bodies made it clear that they needed special care and support. With great dedication, time, and heart, we took in Whitney and Picasso and began to carefully nurse them back to health.

Whitney – in loving memory

Whitney came to us at the age of 30 — underweight, weakened, and with a long road ahead of her. Thanks to your support, we were able to give her one last beautiful year: full of care, warmth, and dignity. She received regular physiotherapy, special feed (Heucobs), and an urgently needed dental treatment. Though we gave everything, with great dedication and veterinary support, the time came when we had to let her go peacefully. Whitney was 31 years old.

Whitney touched not only our hearts — she laid the foundation for Tierhilfe Rhön e.V. Her legacy lives on in every animal we get to help.

Help for many animals

Tierhilfe Rhön e.V. does not only care for horses. We regularly receive emergency cases – such as abandoned kittens, injured or neglected animals. Our goal is to help animals in need, give them protection, and give them a second chance.
